Retirements permit aanvraag voor Zuid-Afrika. BI-1738
Het retirements visum vraag je aan bij de ambassade in Den Haag. Het visum is geldig voor 4 jaar en jouw echtgenote kan daarop mee voor 3 jaar. Na 3 jaar kun je het verlengen in Zuid-Afrika bij het ministerie van buitenlandse zaken. Het is ons gebleken dat bij voldoende vermogen een maandelijks inkomen niet nodig is. In het financiële rapport moet duidelijk gemaakt worden dat je maandelijks genoeg vermogen tot je beschikking hebt.
Een permanent visum dient te worden aangevraagd in Pretoria in Zuid-Afrika. Wij hebben het ingediend in Den Haag en zij sturen het door naar Pretoria. Deze aanvraag kan 2 tot 5 jaar duren en daarom hebben wij ook gekozen om direct een retirements visum aan te vragen. De kosten voor dit 4 jarige visum bedroegen 2 x 33 euro in 2026. Deze aanvraag is redelijk simpel, wij gaan daar niet werken en nemen geen kinderen mee en hebben een vermogen dat voldoet. Tevens zijn we gezond en hebben geen strafblad. Dit maakt deze aanvraag redelijk eenvoudig.

Volgorde van aanlevering:
0. BI-1738 application formulier
1. VOG aanvragen.
2. Medical report BI-811
3. Radiological report BI-806 niet meer nodig.
4. Proof of accommodatie inclusief aanvraag van de title deed.*
5. Geboortecertificaten
6. Huwelijkse akte
7. Twee recente foto’s **
8. CA ofwel financieel rapport waaruit het benodigd vermogen blijkt.
Aanvullende benodigde documenten:

– Onderliggende bewijsstukken, solvabiliteit verklaring van de bank (kun je aanvragen in het engels), Eigendomsbewijzen via het kadaster, dan ook tevens de hypotheek status (proof of no bonds) en de gemeentelijke WOZ waarden van het object. Aandelen overzichten , eventueel huurovereenkomsten en sowieso 3 maanden bankafschriften.
* Als je een eigen huis hebt in Zuid-Afrika kun je een eigendomsakte opvragen bij windeed.co.sa (dat is zeg maar net zoiets als het kadaster bij ons) en als je iets huurt neem dan je huurovereenkomst mee.
** Pasfoto’s conform Zuid-Afrikaanse eisen, vraag daar om… volgens mij grijze achtergrond.
Alle (niet de bankafschriften, VOG en geboortecerficaten) documenten dienen ook vertaald te worden naar het engels. Wij hebben een gecertificeerd vertaler gebruikt (ongeveer 25 euro per A4), maar na ervaring van anderen blijkt dat dit ook zelf mag worden vertaald (geen 100% zekerheid). Scheelt weer een hoop geld.
Oh ja alles ondertekenen met zwarte pen!
De benodigde documenten.
BI-1738 vind je op internet. De VOG vraag je aan bij jouw gemeente alsmede de geboortecertificaten en huwelijksakte. Een medische keuring via een keuringsarts. Een radiologisch rapport is in Nederland niet meer nodig. VOG vraag je aan via jouw gemeente. A. t/m C. staan volledig op de website omdat je die niet kunt terug vinden op het internet. Het zijn verklaringen waarin je aangeeft dat je ervoor zorgt dat je paspoort geldig blijft voor Nederland zodat je altijd kunt terugkeren. Tevens dat je je echtgenote onderhoudt en dat je Zuid-Afrika vrijwaart van verplichtingen.
Deze website is compleet, nu 31 augustus 2026. Ik denk dat alles wel vermeld is. Zowel de hoofdaanvrager als de echtgenoot vullen ieder een eigen BI-1738 formulier in. Tesamen met de onderliggende bewijsstukken wordt alles ingediend. Dan volgen nu de 5 documenten 2 x A. 2 x B. en 1 x C.

Therefore, I do qualify and meet the requirements for a Permit for Temporary Residence in terms of section 27(F) of the Immigration Act with the minimum amount needed to qualify in terms of the Government gazette 37716 would thus easily be able to support myself and my partner in South Africa for the duration of our stay.

Waar vraag je dit visum aan?
Het retirements visum vraag je aan bij de Zuid-Afrikaanse ambassade in Den Haag. Check de website voor de exacte locatie. Waarschijnlijk Zeestraat 100 op de 6e etage. Ga binnen via de koffieshop en neem de lift naar de 6e verdieping.
Hoe lever ik het document in?
Het geheel is losbladig geen nietjes en mapjes. Zorg ervoor dat de aanvraag is betaald en neem een copy van het schrift mee. Op website zuidafrika.nl vind je het bedrag en bankrekeningnummer.
Communiceren met de ambassade?
Per mail, soms reageren ze snel en andere keren niet 😉
En als alles is ingediend?
Rustig afwachten, wij kregen binnen 3 weken een belletje dat de paspoorten klaar lagen met daarin de visums. Denk erom, je bent gedurende die tijd je paspoort kwijt, die moet je namelijk afgeven.
Is het goed zelf te doen?
Jazeker, we hebben ondertussen veel mensen gesproken en prijzen gehoord van 500 tot 15.000 euro voor het inhuren van Immigration diensten. En dan nog veel zelf moeten doen vanwege onvolledige documenten. Het kost wel even tijd om alles bij elkaar te krijgen maar dat moet je sowieso zelf doen, ook met een adviseur.
